The IDEA (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Action) Committee was formed to take action with an intentional focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, providing opportunity, access, and education within R&P. Members participate in different educational forums, self-educate through committee suggested materials, and participate in group discussions about inequalities and how to overcome challenges in the workplace and community.
We have IDEA sub-committees devoted to and focused on Internal Policy Creation, BIPOC (black, Indigenous and people of color) Internship Programs, and Resources/Outreach. Since the sub-committees’ inception last year, we have hired 2 BIPOC interns, actively reviewed policies specifically through the DEI lens, and researched local big box retail alternatives with an intentional focus on finding BIPOC-owned businesses.
Our IDEA committee meets monthly and welcomes all staff members to join. We look forward to continuing our self-education journey across a broad range of topics, as well as discussing where and how we can best contribute to moving ourselves and the company further down the path toward a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive future.
